Government telecom company BSNL has a much less user base than Jio, Airtel and Vi. The number of BSNL users was declining for a long time, but in the last few months, something has happened as if by magic. There has been a huge jump in the number of BSNL customers. In the last two-three months, lakhs of users have joined BSNL’s platform. A major reason behind this is the increase in the prices of tariff plans by Jio, Airtel and Vi.
Ever since private companies have made recharge plans expensive, mobile users are turning to BSNL for cheap plans. Latest figures regarding users of telecom companies have been released by TRAI. According to the latest report of TRAI, the number of BSNL users has increased by lakhs in the month of August also.
Big revelation in TRAI report
According to TRAI report, there has been a huge increase in the user base of BSNL in the last two months. The reasons behind this include continuously offering cheap recharge plans and working fast on 4G service. Along with cheap plans, long validity plans from BSNL are also being liked by the users.
In the month of July, BSNL had added about 30 lakh new users and all other private companies had suffered huge loss of customers. According to TRAI report, similar situation prevailed in the month of August also. In August, the government telecom company added about 25 lakh new customers. If we talk about Jio, Airtel and Vi, they were in bad shape this month.
Jio lost 40 lakh users in August
Jio lost about 40 lakh customers in August. While Airtel lost 24 lakh users, Vodafone Idea lost about 19 lakh customers. This was perhaps the first time since entering the telecom industry that Jio has lost lakhs of customers in two consecutive months. However, whatever happens, Jio still has the highest market share. Jio has a market share of about 40.5% by the end of August.
