Karnataka-Maharashtra Border Dispute: The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) suspended its services to Maharashtra on Wednesday (December 7) following reports of some buses being blackened and damaged in areas bordering Belagavi district. An official of the North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation said, “We are running our buses only till Nipani (in Belagavi district) due to the tension. Tension has been building since morning.” He told that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus coming from Maharashtra to Ranebennur was also damaged. He said, “The glasses of the bus were broken. Apart from this incident, some buses were also blackened.
Police of both states increased security
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Raksha Vedike Sangathan demonstrated in the border areas after the buses were blackened. The activists said that if the buses were targeted, they would also give a similar reply. In view of the resumption of tension in the border area, the police of both the states strengthened the security. Additional security was provided in the buses.
