Delhi MCD Results 2022: Muslim voters in the riot-affected areas of North-East Delhi overwhelmingly voted for the Congress in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. This can be termed as the disenchantment of the minority community with Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in political circles. It is believed that most of the Muslim voters were angry with AAP. This is because Arvind Kejriwal kept distance from Muslims while in the government.
Tell that 134 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party won in Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. At the same time, 104 seats went to BJP’s account. The Congress also won nine seats. Along with this, independent candidates captured three seats. If seen, the performance of Congress in this election was very poor. In MCD, Congress candidates came forward only in those seats where Muslims were in a decisive role. Congress had given tickets to two dozen Muslims this time. Congress has got the benefit of this in the MCD elections.
Congress won these Muslim dominated seats
Congress candidate Nazia Danish won from Zakir Nagar 189 number ward. In this seat, Congress defeated Salma Ariz of Aam Aadmi Party. Along with this, Congress candidate Areba Khan won from Muslim dominated Abu Fazal Ward 188. Areba defeated Aam Aadmi Party councilor Wajid Khan. Shagufta Chaudhary Zubair of Congress has won from Chauhan Bangar ward number 227 of Seelampur area. He defeated Asma Begum of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Along with this, Zarif of Congress defeated Sajid of Aam Aadmi Party from Kabir Nagar ward. INC’s Sameer Ahmed has won from Shastri Park Nagar ward. He defeated Aditya Chowdhary of Aam Aadmi Party. Sabila Begum of Congress won from Mustafabad ward. Congress’s Nazia Khatoon defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Arfin Naaz from Brijpuri ward. All these seats where the Congress defeated the AAP, the number of Muslim voters is said to be more here. Seeing this, it can be clearly inferred that Muslim voters have made up their mind to leave AAP and go towards Congress.
In the nine seats of Congress, except Aya Nagar and Nihal Vihar ward, all other wards are Brijpuri, Mustafabad, Kabir Nagar, Shastri Park, Chauhan Bangar, Zakir Nagar and Abul Fazal Enclave Muslim dominated areas. To stop the BJP from coming to power, the Muslim voters have either AAP or the Congress. Due to these reasons, Muslims elected Congress on these seven seats.
