West Bengal-Bihar Violence: The war of words between the state governments and the BJP continues over the incidents of violence in West Bengal and Bihar. There was violence in both the states on Thursday, the day of Ram Navami. During this, stones were pelted at the procession and vehicles were set on fire. After the violence, internet service was suspended in the affected areas and heavy police force was deployed. The Union Home Ministry has also sought a detailed report from the state government on Tuesday (April 4) on the violence during Ram Navami in Bengal. The BJP targeted the governments of Bihar and Bengal regarding these incidents of violence. After which counterattack was also done by TMC and Bihar government.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday launched a fresh attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the incidents of violence on Ram Navami, accusing them of playing appeasement politics for minority votes. Anurag Thakur while addressing a program organized on World Peace and Harmony Day on the 2622nd birth anniversary of Jain Tirthankar Mahavir in Delhi said that such vote bank politics presents many problems and many challenges before the country.
Anurag Thakur made serious allegations against Mamta Banerjee
Anurag Thakur said that a part of the world has been witnessing war for a long time. When I see the situation in India, there is an atmosphere of peace, but peaceful processions are not allowed on Ram Navami. Referring to the violence during Ram Navami processions in West Bengal, Thakur asked if the state chief minister was resorting to dividing the society as she said Hindus should not pass through certain areas. This in itself is a matter of concern.
“Peaceful procession not allowed”
He said that war between two countries is one thing, but to create such a situation in our own country, in Bihar and Bengal, where you are not allowed to take out a peaceful procession on Ram Navami and there is arson, stone pelting, raises many questions. . Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tell the countries around the world that this is not the era of war and it is time to discuss, think, be a part of democracy and take decisions. The world accepts this fact, but the Chief Ministers of two states of our country are talking like this and are resorting to partiality. This raises a bigger question whether a particular community was involved in the violence or the politics of appeasement fuels their passion.
“BJP’s hand behind the violence”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee also made many allegations on BJP on Tuesday. Addressing a rally in Bengal, Mamata alleged that the BJP defamed the name of Lord Ram by inciting violence during the Ram Navami procession. He said that BJP is behind the violence in Hooghly and Howrah. He called goons from other states for violence in Bengal. I had to be alert all the time as to when and where the BJP would go and create riots. These people do not understand that the people of Bengal do not like riots.
“Defaming Hinduism”
Mamta Banerjee said that they are defaming Hindu religion by pitting one community against another, but the rioters have no religion, they are just political goons. I appeal to everyone to maintain calm. She will not let the rioters escape and strict action will be taken against them. The BJP says that if the party comes to power in Bihar, it will hang the rioters upside down. Then why is she not doing the same for her goons who are creating trouble in Bengal? The work of virtue begins from home itself.
“Mamata Banerjee creating communal tension”
At the same time, Bengal BJP chief Sukant Majumdar alleged that it is Mamta Banerjee who is creating communal tension. The police is not arresting the attackers, but has arrested those who were carrying weapons. Was there any video of him attacking someone? There is no proof, but we have videos of violence during Ram Navami, but no action is being taken against them.
Asaduddin Owaisi also attacked
Meanwhile, AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also opened a front against the governments of both the states. He said that this is the failure of the state governments, be it the West Bengal government or the Bihar government, or the mob lynching of Idris Pasha in Karnataka. What was the government doing? Nitish Kumar, who has been the Chief Minister for years, has not been able to stop it. I condemn the behavior of Nitish Kumar and RJD government that they have completely failed to stop the burning of this madrasa and the attack on the mosque. Also, properties of Muslims were purposefully burnt in Bihar.
“Want to create fear among Muslims”
Owaisi further said that whenever there is violence in a state, it is the responsibility of the state government. In Biharsharif, the madrassa was set ablaze and Muslim shops were targeted. There is a conspiracy behind this. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar knew that Nalanda is a sensitive district, yet there was unrest there. He has no regrets, he had also attended Iftar yesterday. CM Nitish and Tejashwi Yadav want to create fear among Muslims in the state.
Bihar minister hit back
On the allegations of AIMIM Chief Owaisi, Bihar Government Minister Ashok Chaudhary said that we are not people like Asaduddin Owaisi and BJP. We do not do politics like them, we do politics of brotherhood. Whenever we feel that the atmosphere will be fine in the areas affected by our departure, peace will prevail, then we will go. Right now the situation is tense and the administration is handling the situation responsibly. The allegation of administrative lapse is not an issue now, it is a matter of investigation.
It is noteworthy that during the Ramnavami procession last Thursday, communal violence broke out in West Bengal as well as in Bihar Sharif of Nalanda district and Sasaram of Rohtas district of Bihar. Bihar Police has so far arrested 173 people in this case. After this, six people were also injured in the bomb blast in Sasaram of Rohtas on April 1.
