Patna: The Bihar government has sent notices to 2.21 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) for not completing the construction of houses even after the administration sent the entire amount to their accounts. 1.20 lakh rupees have been given under this scheme. The State Government’s Rural Development Department has also initiated departmental action against 347 government employees for not ensuring complete construction of houses even after full amount has been deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries. This includes 309 Housing Assistants and 38 Housing Supervisors.
Department engaged in preparing for legal action
According to departmental documents, the department has sent ‘red notices’ to 94,027 beneficiaries and ‘white notices’ to 1,27,463 for not completing the construction of houses even after receiving the full amount months and years ago under PMAY-G. ‘Red notice’ is sent against those against whom the department is preparing legal action and ‘white notice’ is sent to the violators as a warning to complete the construction of the house under the scheme soon.

Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar said on Friday that yes, the department has sent notices (both red and white) to 2,21,490 beneficiaries in the state who have not got pucca houses under the PMAY-G scheme even after the full amount has been credited to their accounts. The construction has not been completed. Many violators have not constructed their houses even after several months and years of payment being made by the department. State government officials are also responsible for this, so action has been initiated against 347 officials.
Most notices sent in Gaya district
The Rural Development Minister said that the department has sent notices to maximum 21,375 beneficiaries in Gaya district. After that notices have been issued to 16,955 beneficiaries in East Champaran, 14,753 in Madhubani, 13,709 in Begusarai, 13,344 in Nawada, 11,806 in Araria and 11,338 in Madhepura.
