Electoral Bond Case: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday (December 03, 2024) registered a criminal case against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and former state BJP President Nalin Kumar Katilal for allegedly extorting money and pressurizing business entities to buy electoral bonds. Rejected. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also a co-accused in the case.
Karnataka High Court had reserved its order on 20 November. In the petition filed by former state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, a demand was made to quash the FIR. Justice M Nagaprasanna accepted Kateel’s petition and passed this order. Bengaluru Police had registered an FIR based on the complaint of Adarsh R Iyer, a city activist.
