New Flight Baggage Rules: There is important news for those traveling by air. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has changed the rules for carrying luggage during air travel. Under the new rules of BCAS, now passengers will be allowed to carry only one hand bag or cabin bag inside the flight. Its weight should not be more than 7 kg. These rules will be applicable on both domestic and international flights and it will be mandatory for passengers to follow them.
The purpose of the new rule is to ensure airport security due to increasing passenger numbers as well as streamline the boarding and check-in process. According to the new rules, it will be mandatory to check-in all bags except hand bags. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other security agencies will check bags more strictly. Actually, these changes have been made keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers and security challenges at the airport. These initiatives will make airport security and management more streamlined. Due to less baggage, the security screening process will be faster and effective.
According to the new rules
1. Each passenger will be allowed to carry only one cabin bag or hand bag.
2. The maximum weight of the bag should be 7 kg.
3. The size of the bag should not exceed 40 cm (length) x 20 cm (width) x 55 cm (height).
4. Personal bags such as laptop bag, ladies purse or small bag (up to 3 kg) are allowed.
5. Additional fees or fines may be imposed for violating these rules.
New rules of airlines
Air India and Indigo have also issued guidelines regarding new rules related to baggage. Hand luggage up to 7 kg is allowed in Air India’s economy and premium economy. At the same time, hand bags up to 10 kg can be carried in business and first class. In IndiGo, each passenger is allowed to carry one cabin bag (7 kg) and one personal bag (3 kg). The total size of the bag should not exceed 115 cm.

Check the weight and size of the bag before travelling.
If your luggage exceeds 7 kg, keep it in check-in baggage.
