New Delhi: After two days that were not very eventful, ‘Bhediya’ starring Varun Dhawan was able to achieve a solid increase at the box office. The horror comedy movie is seeing a good amount of audience participation in theaters and was even able to record growth on Sunday.
Sunday’s earnings of Rs 11.50 cr brought the film’s three-day domestic gross to Rs 28.55 cr, as reported by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He took to Instagram and wrote, “#Bhediya posts a DECENT TOTAL in its opening weekend… Witnesses growth on Day 3… However, #D2 wave has affected its #BO earnings… Needs to have a strong run on weekdays to consolidate its status… Fri 7.48 cr, Sat 9.57 cr, Sun 11.50 cr. Total: ₹ 28.55 cr. #India biz.
The plot of ‘Bhediya’, which is set in Arunachal Pradesh, centers on a young man named Bhaskar who is bitten by a wolf while exploring the wilderness. Eventually, he too begins to transform into a werewolf.
According to the movie’s review on ABP Live“Bhediya opens with a narration of the Wolf and the Seven Lambs story from Panchtantra which introduces Sharad Kalkar in a marginal role only to be eaten by a werewolf. Like the Panchatantra story, the film is filled with such folklore references, drawing upon the legacy of oral cultures, traditions and storytelling. And, that is why ‘Bhediya’ manages to land like its predecessor film ‘Stree’.”
Amar Kaushik directed the comedy-horror movie ‘Bhediya’, which is the third installment in Vijan’s horror franchise. ‘Bhediya’ premieres in theaters on November 25.
