Lucknow: Sri Lankan cricket team’s star spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was on Wednesday ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against India as he is yet to recover from the Kovid-19 infection. Hasaranga was found corona infected in the five-match T20 series against Australia in February, due to which he could not play in the last three matches on the tour.
This is a big setback for Sri Lanka before the start of the T20 series against India in Lucknow. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) said in a statement, “Wanindu Hasaranga has once again been found corona infected, when the player’s corona test was done yesterday (22 February), his report came positive in an RT-PCR test. “
Wanindu Hasaranga has made a special impression with his superb leg spin and batting skills. He is one of the most important players in the team. When the Indian team went to Sri Lanka for the white-ball series in July 2021 under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan. Then he took the most wickets in three T20 matches. At the same time, his best performance was four wickets for just 9 runs.
Hasaranga took a hat-trick against South Africa in the T20 World Cup. He was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 16 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 5.20.
The first T20 will be played on February 24
For your information, let us tell you that the first match of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Lucknow tomorrow i.e. on Thursday. After this, the second T20 will be played on 26 February in Dharamsala and the third T20 will be played on 27 February in Dharamsala.
