Chhattisgarh News: In Chhattisgarh, the business of Gutkha containing banned Zarda is going on indiscriminately. People are easily getting the banned gutkha at any shop or paan stall. Not only this, the people doing the business of banned Zardayukt Gutka are easily delivering Gutkha to the retail traders by keeping goods worth lakhs in the Godown. The Food and Drug Department raided one such godown of banned Gutkha, from where 89 sacks containing banned Gutkha, whose price is said to be Rs 10 lakh, was recovered.
Banned gutkha worth 10 lakh recovered
The Food and Drug Department was informed by the Mohan Nagar police of Durg that a large quantity of banned yolk-rich gutkha is kept in a godown in the police station area. On the basis of information, the team of Food and Drug Administration took raid action. On the complaint of selling banned gutkha in Deshlhare Nagar Ward 24, raided a godown on the spot. A storage of 89 bags of pan masala was found in that godown, the cost of which was said to be around Rs 10 lakh.
The owner of this godown is a person named Saurabh Jaswani. The godown was sealed with immediate effect for not showing the FSSAI license letter on the spot. Along with this, the operator was also directed to present the food license before the Food Safety Department. Apart from this, a notice was also issued to the godown owner. This action has been taken by District Food Safety Officer Richa Sharma. Food Safety Officer Narad Komre and police personnel were present during the raid.
The officer said the action will continue
Sale, distribution, storage, manufacture of food articles without a food license is an offense under section 31 of the Food Safety Standards Act 2006 and Regulations 2011. There is also a provision for imprisonment. Told District Food Safety Officer Richa Sharma that continuous strict action is being taken against food traders who do not have food license.
