Shakib Al Hasan In Bangladesh Squad Amidst Murder Case Allegation: Bangladesh’s legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be seen playing two Tests against India starting on 19 September. Shakib is currently in the news for murder allegations. Bangladesh had earlier played a two-match Test series on Pakistan tour, during which Shakib was accused of murder. Now amid these allegations, Shakib has been selected for the two-match Test series against India.
Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday (12 September) announced the team for the two-match Test series to be held on India tour. Nazmul Hussain Shanto was once again made the captain. Earlier, under Shanto’s captaincy, the team won the two-match Test series in Pakistan by 2-0.
Although there were speculations that the Bangladesh Board would not make Shakib Al Hasan a part of the team for the India tour amid the murder allegations, but this did not happen and he has been included in the Test team.
Whose murder is he accused of?
In fact, Shakib is accused of killing Rubel, the son of a man named Rafikul Islam, who died during the protest. In this case, a case was registered at the Adabor police station in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Rafikul Islam’s son died due to bullet injury. Let us tell you that Rafikul Islam had included about 154 accused, in which Shakib Al Hasan is at number 28. It is worth noting that Shakib Al Hasan was elected MP from Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League in 2023 and after the coup amid the protests, he was also accused of murder.
Bangladesh Cricket Board had already made it clear
Bangladesh Cricket Board has already given a clear statement regarding Shakib Al Hasan. The board had said that until the allegations against Shakib are proven, he will continue to play for the Bangladesh national team.
