March Aviation Data: In March this year, the domestic aviation sector got a big boost. In the month of March this year, an increase of 21.4 per cent has been recorded in air traffic as compared to last year. According to the data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on April 18, 2023, a total of 128.9 lakh people traveled by flight in the month of March this year. On the other hand, during this period last year, Rs 106.2 lakh people had traveled by air in March.
Tremendous growth recorded in March quarter
According to DGCA data, in the quarter ended March 31, an increase of 51.7 per cent has been recorded in air traffic as compared to the previous year. A total of 375.04 lakh people have traveled by air between January and March. On the other hand, a total of 247.23 lakh people have traveled by air during this period last year. In such a situation, an increase of 51.70 percent has been recorded in the number of air passengers year after year.
Indigo’s market share increased
Indigo has registered an increase in its market share in domestic aviation in March. Indigo’s market share was 55.9 per cent in the month of February, which has now increased to 56.8 per cent. On the other hand, if we talk about the market share of SpiceJet, then a decline has been recorded in it. SpiceJet’s market share has come down to 6.4 per cent in March. It was 7.1 per cent in February. At the same time, the market share of Air India has decreased by 0.1 percent in March as compared to February. It has been 8.8 percent in March. At the same time, the market share of Tata Group’s Vistara has increased to 8.9 per cent in March from 8.7 per cent in February. At the same time, the market share of Go First Air has been reduced to 6.9 percent in March. It was 8 percent in March.
What was the cancellation rate in March
According to DGCA, the domestic cancellation rate in March was 0.28 percent. In this, maximum cancellation has happened in Fly Big. This rate has been 4.48 percent. Whereas in Indiaone Air, this rate has been 1.55 percent. At the same time, DGCA has received a total of 347 complaints against Indiaone Air.
