Maharashtra Politics: Controversy regarding historical personalities is increasing in Maharashtra. Controversy over personalities in the state is not taking the name of stopping. On Monday, National Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad said that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was not anti-Hindu. However, Awad’s fear of backlash changed the matter. He said that Auranzeb was a cruel ruler who killed his brother and father to ascend the throne.
Awhad said that Chhatrapati Sambhaji was in Sardesai Wada, Sangameshwar. He said who gave this information to Aurangzeb? This is where the real history lies. Jitendra told that he was brought to Bahadurgarh, where his eyes were gouged out. He told that there was a Vishnu temple near the Bahadurgarh fort, if Aurangzeb was a Hindu hater, he would have destroyed the Vishnu temple as well.
The former housing minister said, “I am of the view that there is no reason to go back to history, as it only leads to new disputes (among society).” He was trying to defend Leader of the Opposition Ajit Pawar’s remarks on Chhatrapati Sambhaji in the state assembly last Friday, where he said the Maratha king never supported dharma or dharma in his life.
What is the matter?
Last week in the assembly, Ajit Pawar had said that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was not a ‘Dharmaveer’ (protector of religion). Due to which the controversy regarding historical personalities in Maharashtra has again increased. On this comment of Ajit, BJP has claimed that the NCP leader’s comment was an insult to Sambhaji Maharaj.
On Monday (January 2), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers protested against Maharashtra leader Ajit Pawar in Nashik over his alleged remarks about Sambhaji Maharaj. This demonstration was held at Ravivar Karanja Chowk, in which BJP workers raised slogans against Pawar and burnt his effigy.
