Attention Major flaw in Mozilla Firefox, hackers can steal data, government told how to avoid it

Mozilla Firefox, CERT-In Warning: A major flaw in the web browser Mozilla Firefox has been updated. India’s cyber security agency, Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning regarding the Mozilla Firefox browser. CERT-In says that by taking advantage of these flaws, hackers can attack your computer and steal data. This problem has also surfaced in older versions of Firefox, Thunderbird Email and ESR versions.

Cyber security agency CERT-In has said in its warning that versions before Firefox 131, versions before Thunderbird 128.3 and 131, and versions before Firefox ESR 128.3 and 115.16 are very risky. Hackers can take advantage of these flaws and breach the security of your browser. Not only this, hackers can also harm your data through fake websites.

Hackers can get wrong files downloaded

According to CERT-In, hackers can trick you into downloading wrong files. Apart from this, you can also attack the system through clickjacking. To protect themselves, CERT-In has asked Firefox and Thunderbird users to update their software immediately. Hackers can perform a denial-of-service (DoS) attack on your system by sending certain types of web transport requests. This means that these hackers will send so many attacks to your computer or server that it will stop working and you will not be able to use it.

Update software like this

To update the software, first open the menu in Firefox or Thunderbird. After this go to the ‘Help’ section and then click on ‘About Firefox’ or ‘About Thunderbird’. Download and install the update here. You will see a green mark when the update is complete. After this you will be able to use the browser safely.
