In the midst of fuel shortage, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik has refused to supply gas for 24 hours to the public. Malik said on Wednesday (April 5) that people can no longer get gas 24/7. Pakistan has a huge dependence on natural gas for energy. With increasing demand and inadequate supply on it, load shedding has become a major issue in many areas of the country.

Fuel consumption increased sharply in Ramadan
According to the report of Pakistan’s Geo News, fuel-consumption increased further in Pakistan due to the Pak month of Ramadan. This made the situation even worse. An official said that these days Pakistanis use more gas for cooking and other reasons, especially during Sehri and Iftar. In the month of Ramzan, the Pakistani government could not make any arrangements, but now the Minister of State for Petroleum has given orders that the facility of gas supply will be stopped for 24 hours.

‘We can no longer provide gas 24 hours’
Speaking to reporters in Karachi, the minister said, “We cannot provide gas 24 hours a day because our reserves have reduced.” The officials have the same attitude, they are saying that the process of gas supply should be monitored and any laxity should not be tolerated.

‘Industries cannot function without gas’
The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) demanded immediate government action on the lack of gas supply to Karachi industries and said that industries cannot function without gas. They will be forced to stop production. KCCI President Muhammad Tariq Yusuf said, “It is highly unfair to have this kind of attitude towards the business community of Karachi, which despite facing so many hurdles and challenges, has grown by almost 54% in terms of exports and 68% in terms of revenue. contributes more.”

At the same time, Minister Malik said that his visit to Karachi was based on resolving the gas supply issues that people are facing and urged them to ensure payment of their bills. The minister said, “Now the gas bill of the rich and the poor has been separated, the rich will now have to pay more.”
