Jerusalem: The land of Gaza has become barren in the last 7 months due to the war with Israel. Now there are ruins, silence and the echo of the sounds of bullets and bombs. A beautiful city crematorium has been built. But the days of Gaza’s destruction are still left. In fact, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged on Tuesday to attack another city of Gaza which shelters thousands of Palestinians. This has horrified not only Hamas but also the general public of Palestine.
Netanyahu said he would destroy Rafah. He said Israel would enter Rafah ‘with or without an agreement’ to destroy Hamas battalions. Even after this there will be a fierce war. Israel and Hamas are negotiating a ceasefire agreement to free the hostages and bring some relief to the nearly seven-month-long war.
Netanyahu vowed to win
From the very beginning, Netanyahu had vowed not to rest until Hamas was completely destroyed. This is why he has been repeatedly rejecting efforts for a ceasefire. The second reason is Hamas not releasing the Israeli hostages. This has further enraged Netanyahu. He has now vowed to achieve ‘complete victory’ in the war and is under pressure from ‘nationalist’ allies in his government to attack Rafah. Israel believes that Rafah city is the last remaining major stronghold of Hamas. 30 April (AP)
