Karnataka Assembly Results: The Congress government is going to be formed in Karnataka after a spectacular victory in the assembly elections. The credit for this victory of the Congress goes to these five guarantees, which the party has promised to fulfill in its election manifesto. On the basis of these five guarantees, the party has been successful in winning 135 out of 224 seats. But a big question arises that from where will the newly elected government get the money to fulfill the five guarantees on the basis of which it is going to form the government in the state.
According to the Economic Times report, if the Congress fulfills these guarantees, the Karnataka government’s exchequer will be burdened with Rs 62,000 crore every year. The expenditure on what Congress has promised is equal to the financial deficit of the last financial year 2022-23. A deficit of Rs 60,581 crore has been estimated in 2023-24, which is 2.60 percent of the state’s GDP.
If we look at the five guarantees in the Congress, the new government will provide 200 units of electricity free of cost to all households and this scheme has been named Griha Jyoti. The head woman of every family will be given a help of Rs 2000 every month. The name of this scheme has been kept as Griha Lakshmi. Under Anna Bhagya Yojana, every BPL family will be given 10 kg rice free of cost. The youth who have graduated will be given Rs 3000 per month and diploma holders in the age group of 18 to 25 years will be given Rs 1500. The name of the scheme has been kept as Yuvanidhi. Women will not have to pay for traveling in State Transport Corporation buses and the name of the scheme has been kept Shakti. Apart from this, 500 liters of diesel will be given every year without tax to the fishermen who fish in the sea. And the party has announced to give 6000 rupees to the fishermen during the season in which they cannot catch fish.
After the formation of the government, the party has also announced to fill 2.50 black government posts. In such a situation, the burden on the exchequer of the government may increase further. By the way, GST collection in big states has been excellent in Karnataka. In 2022-23, the target of revenue collection was kept at Rs 72000 crore, which has been achieved till January 83010 crore. Which is 15 percent more than the budget estimate. In such a situation, it is being predicted that the new Congress government in Karnataka will not face much difficulty in fulfilling its guarantee.
