New York: SpaceX engineer Anna Menon will also be among the crew members of the unique space mission announced by American billionaire Jared Isaacman. Isaacman led the world’s first private space crew last year.
Anna Menon is the wife of Indian-origin doctor Anil Menon and she is the ‘Lead Space Operations Engineer’ at SpaceX. Anna Menon manages the crew operations program and also serves on mission control as mission director and crew communicator, SpaceX said Monday.
Isaacman is the founder and CEO of American payment processing company ‘Shift4’. He had commanded the ‘Inspiration 4’ mission and announced the ‘Polaris Program’. The program will include three manned spaceflight missions.
The first mission is named ‘Polaris Dawn’ and will be sent by the end of 2022 from the National Aeronautics and Space Management (NASA) Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Anna Menon is the expert and medical officer for this mission.
Anna, a lieutenant colonel in the US Air Force, was selected by NASA in December last year along with nine others as an astronaut for future missions. In addition to pursuing her lifelong passion for space, Anna enjoys hiking, flying small airplanes, and dancing salsa. Anna’s greatest love is her family, which includes husband Anil, son James and daughter Grace.

Anna’s husband Anil Menon was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His father is Malayali father and mother is Ukrainian. He was SpaceX’s first flight surgeon, helped launch the company’s first humans into space during NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission, and built a medical organization to support the human system during future missions. He previously served NASA as the crew flight surgeon for various missions that took astronauts to the International Space Station.
