The first day of the third Test match being played between India and Australia was washed out by rain. Due to continuous rain, only 13.2 overs of play was possible throughout the day. During this, Australia scored 28 runs without any loss. The rain was so heavy that the Gabba ground turned into a swimming pool and the day’s play was declared canceled at 4:15 pm local time and 11:45 am Indian time.
Cricket Australia suffered big loss due to rain
On the first day of the Gaba Test, 30,145 spectators had gathered on the ground since morning. Despite the huge enthusiasm of the spectators, the weather spoiled the fun of the game. Cricket Australia (CA) has suffered a major financial blow due to rain. All the tickets were sold out at Gabba Stadium, but according to the refund policy of Cricket Australia, if the game is less than 15 overs then the full amount of the tickets is refunded to the spectators. Cricket Australia suffered a loss of ₹8.5 crore due to the cancellation of the first day’s play.
If rain had allowed 10 more balls to be played, Cricket Australia could have avoided this huge loss. But bad weather created problems for them.

Rain disappointed the spectators
Thousands of spectators who came to watch the match returned disappointed. The fans present at the Gaba Stadium had been waiting for hours for the game to start, but ultimately the rain disappointed them. About 40 mm of rain had completely ruined the game. This proved to be a big shock not only for the fans but also for Cricket Australia. While on one hand the dreams of sports lovers were shattered, on the other hand CA had to lose crores of profits.
The match of the second day of the Gaba Test started half an hour earlier. The first ball of the Gabba Test was bowled at 5:50 on the first day. But on the second day the first ball was bowled at 5:20.
