Bashar al Assad Murder Attempt: An attempt has been made to kill former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, living in Russia. According to the report of British newspaper The Sun, Assad told on Sunday (29 December) that he was having difficulty breathing. For this he had sought help for treatment. However, after just some time the situation started worsening. He also started complaining of cough and suffocation. He was given water to provide comfort. But by the time the doctor arrived, his condition worsened.
An attempt to kill former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has been made when his relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin seem to be deteriorating. It is believed that both the leaders did not trust each other, but it was Putin who decided to rescue Assad from Syria and take him to Moscow.
Information given to Vladimir Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin was also informed about Assad’s condition, after which the Kremlin ordered that he be treated in his apartment instead of a hospital. After initial treatment, a team of doctors was deployed to Assad’s apartment. By Monday (30 December) evening, doctors said that Asad’s condition is now stable and his health is improving. After testing the samples taken from his body, it was confirmed that he had been poisoned.
Investigation into the case continues
This incident is being investigated under the supervision of Nikolai Patrushev, a close aide of Vladimir Putin. However, till the time of writing the news, it was not clear how Assad was poisoned. Assad had to leave Syria last month when Tahrir al-Sham fighters captured Damascus and other major cities.
Assad’s family dispute
After Assad’s removal from power, family disputes have started in his house too. According to reports, his wife Asma wanted to return to Britain, but could not due to passport problems. Asma was born in London, and is now living with Assad in Moscow. There are also reports that Asma may demand divorce.
