Amazon Layoffs: After Facebook and Twitter, Amazon is also going to lay off employees. In view of the economic crisis, the company is going to reduce the number of workforce. Amazon has informed the regional authorities of California that it is going to lay off 250 people from different facilities. Which includes Data Scientists, Software Engineers and other corporate workers. This retrenchment will come into effect from January 17, 2023.
At present, Amazon has not told how many more people will be laid off. For the time being, the company has disclosed this by being bound by the rules. Because a company has more than 75 full-time or part-time workers, which it has to tell 60 days in advance under California’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. Amazon has given employment to 1.5 million people all over the world.
Like other tech companies, Amazon’s revenue has also decreased. In fact, during the Corona epidemic, people were doing online shopping fiercely, but after the epidemic, there has been a decrease, due to which Amazon has to bear the brunt. The company has made profit in the third quarter but investors are worried about the decrease in revenue growth.
To reduce the loss, Amazon has decided to close many of its projects, including Subsidiary Fabric.com, Amazon Care. Amazon has always avoided mass layoffs. But the company has decided to be cautious about hiring in future. This month, the company has decided to put a stop to corporate hiring.
