Allegations against Adani Group are actually a conspiracy to stop India’s development journey, said Mahesh Jethmalani

Adani News Update: After former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani has also come out in defense of Adani Group and Group Chairman Gautam Adani. Mahesh Jethmalani said, the allegations leveled against Adani Group in America are a conspiracy to stop the journey of India’s economic development. Attacking the opposition party Congress, he said, Congress is raising the issue only for political gains. He said, before demanding JPC against Adani Group, the opposition should provide credible evidence.

Senior advocate said, no evidence has been presented in the indictment of the US Department of Justice regarding bribery in India. He said, the indictment also does not mention which law in India has been violated. Attacking Congress, Mahesh Jethmalani said, the noise that the opposition party is making regarding this is completely wrong. He asked, what is the evidence that proves that Indian officials have been bribed to get contracts related to solar energy? He said, nothing like this has been said in the indictment of the US Justice Department.

Attacking the Congress party, Mahesh Jethmalani said, the party is blindly believing the allegations against this Indian industrial group which has done vital business in India and abroad. This is not in India’s interest and the US court’s indictment should not be trusted which has not provided any evidence. And it has also not been told that Adani or Adani Green, the bond issuing company, has done any wrong in India. Jethmalani said, he does not understand on the basis of which evidence the American judge who issued the indictment has taken this action.

Jethmalani said, Congress is fanning the issue for political gains and this is a conspiracy to stop India’s growth story. He said, you are following a corporate group and are trying to humiliate the Prime Minister. He said, he (Gautam Adani) is an industrialist who has successfully completed many infrastructure projects in India and abroad, of which you should be proud. He said, do not be hasty in condemning him (Gautam Adani) after the American indictment. You are behaving like a local agent of a foreign power which is trying to stop India’s economic growth. Indirectly, you are hurting retail investors.

Mahesh Jethmalani said, unless Congress presents a solid and credible group, there is no need for investigation by any authority or joint parliamentary committee in India. He said, you present the evidence, you only want to create some kind of noise and disrupt the Parliament which is absolutely not appropriate.
