Air India Express: Many Air India Express flights had to be canceled across the country on Wednesday (8 May). Passengers have faced difficulties due to cancellation of these flights. According to the information, thousands of people got stranded at four airports in Kerala due to cancellation of Air India Express flights. The flights that have been canceled include domestic as well as international flights. According to news agency IANS, about a dozen flights have been canceled from four international airports of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur. There were also international flights among them, which were going to the countries of the Middle East.
According to the passengers, this information was given to them just before boarding the flight. The passengers said that they had passed the security check and were waiting to board the flight. During this time he was told that the flights had been cancelled. Also they were asked to take the flight some other day or return the money. After this the passengers became angry and protested. A passenger said that if they keep canceling flights like this then lock it.
Why were the flights cancelled?
A large number of Air India Express employees have gone on sick leave together. Due to this the airline had to cancel 78 flights in the last 12 hours. According to the information, the reason for the employees taking sick leave together is due to the changes being made in the airline, against which this step has been taken.
Merger was approved in 2023
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation had approved the merger of Tata Group’s budget airline AIX Connect (formerly Air Asia India) and Air India Express in 2023. Sources said that senior employees including cabin crew were not happy with the changes being made by the airline. An airline spokesperson said that a section of our cabin crew has gone on sick leave from Tuesday evening. Due to this many flights are facing delays.
