Air Force’s powerful Apache helicopter had to make emergency landing in Ladakh, what happened that the pilot had to take this step

Indian Airforce Apache Helicopter: Apache helicopter of Indian Air Force made emergency landing in Ladakh. The Air Force said that the helicopter got damaged due to the rough terrain and high altitude. This accident happened on Wednesday (April 3), in which both the pilots in the helicopter are safe.

Helicopter damaged during landing

The Indian Air Force issued a statement regarding this incident and said, “During operational training in Ladakh, an emergency landing of the Apache helicopter was made on April 3. Due to the undulating terrain and high altitude, the helicopter was damaged during landing. However, both pilots are safe.”

The Indian Air Force said, “Both pilots aboard the Apache helicopter have been taken to the nearest airbase. A court of inquiry has been ordered to find out the reasons for the incident.”

These helicopters were landed on the NH of Jammu and Kashmir

Earlier, Chinook, MI-17 and ALH helicopters of the Indian Air Force had landed on the National Highway of Jammu and Kashmir during the emergency preparedness practice. According to officials, two US-made Chinooks, one Russian-made Mi-17 and two Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) had landed on the Wanpoh-Sangam road of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday morning.

The maximum speed of Chinook helicopter is 310 km per hour and travel range is 741 km. It is used for lifting heavy goods. More than 33 soldiers can sit in its main cabin. It can also be used for medical purposes. There is space for 24 stretchers.

Mi-17 helicopters are used in relief and rescue operations during natural disasters. Work on the emergency landing strip in Jammu and Kashmir was started in the year 2020. The program initiated by the Indian Air Force with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the construction of ELF at different locations across the country was completed by the end of 2023.
