Paddy Upton Team India: After the disappointment in the T20 World Cup 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is constantly taking major decisions. The board has now decided to terminate the contract of the team’s mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton. Upton was linked with the Indian team even before the World Cup and was given a contract till the tournament itself. Now the board has decided not to extend his contract. The Indian team is soon going to leave for Bangladesh for the ODI and Test series.
Upton joined the team in July
Upton was linked with the Indian team in July when head coach Rahul Dravid sought a mental conditioning coach. He started working with the team with India’s tour of the West Indies, but he was criticized a lot during the World Cup. Before refusing to extend Upton’s contract, the board has taken another major decision by removing the selection committee. The board has shown the way out to many people including chief selector Chetan Sharma.

Even though Upton’s second stint with the Indian team did not go well, he was quite successful in the first stint. Between 2008 and 2011, Upton worked with the Indian team and was part of the 2011 World Cup winning team. Upton, 53, was selected by the team’s coach Gary Kirsten himself. Upton and Dravid have worked together as coaching staff for Rajasthan Royals.
