Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Voting is to be held on 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra this month (20 November). Many types of tactics are being adopted to woo voters during elections. The Flying Squad team of Mumbai Police and Election Commission has raided different places in Mumbai’s metropolitan area in the last two days and seized Rs 7.3 crore along with a vehicle which had pressure cookers.

Disclosing this, an officer associated with the investigation said that information about a vehicle with a pressure cooker was received while campaigning by some other party. When the officials started searching the vehicle, a poster of Vijay Chougule was found on the front seat of the vehicle. Let us tell you, Vijay Chougule is an independent candidate from Airoli seat, whose election symbol is pressure cooker.
Cash also recovered from Kalbadevi and Mira-Vasai
Last Thursday also, Mumbai Police arrested 12 people with cash worth Rs 2.3 crore in Kalbadevi area of South Mumbai. However, they could not explain the reason for where and how they were going to use so much money.
Mumbai Police has come on alert as the election date approaches. Mumbai Police stopped an ATM van during the blockade in Mira, Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar on Wednesday. Upon search, Rs 3.5 crore was found in the van, which was confiscated by the police. When two people present in the van were taken into custody and interrogated, both of them could give information only about Rs 40 lakh. Were unable to give correct information regarding the remaining amount.
Both of them told that this amount belonged to a private bank, but due to lack of documents, the police confiscated the cash. Let us tell you that during the blockade on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, Mumbai Police seized Rs 1.5 crore from a vehicle.
Rs 280 crore seized
Ever since the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra were announced, about Rs 280 crore has been seized by the police, which is more than the previous elections. The amount of cash seized in the state itself is Rs 73.11 crore. While liquor worth Rs 37.98 crore, drugs worth Rs 37.76 crore along with valuables worth Rs 90 crore have also been seized.
Apart from this, 91 constituencies of the state have been identified as Expenditure Sensitive Constituencies (ESC). These are such areas where many types of inducements are given to woo the voters.
