After SC’s decision regarding ED chief, opposition parties surrounded, Amit Shah retaliated

ED Director News: The Supreme Court on Tuesday (July 11) declared the third service extension granted to Enforcement Directorate (ED) chief Sanjay Kumar Mishra illegal. Now the statements of all the leaders of the opposition are coming out on this. On behalf of the opposition, this decision is being described as a slap on the face of the government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has now retaliated on this.

He said that those celebrating the Supreme Court’s decision are confused for various reasons. Amit Shah tweeted that the amendment in the CVC Act, which was duly passed by the Parliament, has been retained. The ED’s powers to crack down on the corrupt and those working on the wrong side of the law will remain the same.

What did the Union Home Minister say?

Amit Shah said that ED is an institution which is above any individual and is focused on achieving its main objective i.e. to investigate the offenses of money laundering and violation of foreign exchange laws.

The home minister said that thus who is the ED director is not important as whoever assumes the role will look into the rampant corruption of a comfortable club of entitled dynasties with an anti-development mindset.

Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal told news agency ANI that This is a big slap on the face of the government. The Supreme Court’s decision has put a question mark on the purpose of extension. This is a big failure on their (central government’s) part.
