Hanuman Jayanti Violence: Violence broke out again on Friday (April 14) during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Odisha’s Sambalpur. During this, cases of arson in many shops also came to the fore. At the same time, news of 10 policemen including a woman policeman being injured in the violence that broke out on Wednesday (April 12) also came to the fore. After this, Section 144 was imposed in the area.
In fact, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated as Maha Vishuva Sankranti in Odisha. A procession was taken out in this regard in Odisha on Friday, but violence broke out during this. Earlier on Wednesday, the police arrested about 32 people in connection with the violence that took place during the motorcycle rally.
Section 144 implemented in 6 police station areas of the district
The police administration has been alerted regarding the violent incident that came to light on Hanuman Jayanti. Section 144 is applicable in 6 police station areas of the district till further orders. People are not allowed to leave the house during curfew. However, the purchase of essential goods has been allowed from 8 am to 10 am and from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm. For medical emergencies, the administration has also issued a helpline number (7655800760) in any district headquarter hospital. There itself Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reacted on this matter. He said- ‘What happened is condemnable, law and order has gone haywire in Odisha. I urge the state government to take immediate action.

32 people arrested in the case
Sambalpur Collector Ananya Das informed that immediate action was taken by the police administration regarding the violence. The administration quickly brought the fire under control with the help of deployed fire engines and also detained some people involved in the case. Das said that despite heavy police deployment in the city, a youth was killed near the Ring Road Mangala temple in the western Odisha city. The reason why the young man was killed has not yet been revealed, nor has the identity of the deceased been identified.
