Israel-Hezbollah War: The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon’s militant group Hezbollah has come into effect since the morning of Wednesday (November 27). This ceasefire has been implemented under the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution. Whose duration is only for 60 days. During this time, both the sides will try to make peace from their respective sides, but now the question is whether the Middle East will become disturbed again when this ceasefire ends.
On October 7, 2023, an attack was carried out by the extremist group Hamas, in which thousands of Israeli citizens lost their lives and more than two hundred and fifty people were abducted. After seeing such actions of this group in Gaza, Israel also attacked Hamas. After which the extremist group Hezbollah also joined this war, which supports the ideology of Hamas.
While on one hand there has been a two-month ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, on the other hand the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is still continuing unofficially.
UNSC Ceasefire implemented under resolution
The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has come into force on the basis of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701. UNSC brought this proposal in the year 2006, whose sole objective is to reduce tension between Hezbollah and Israel. Apart from this, it also talks about permanent ceasefire in the buffer zone.
Why was there a sudden ceasefire between the two?
It is noteworthy that the UNSC resolution was not implemented suddenly, rather indications were already being given. Many big countries were working for this. During the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, thousands of people have lost their lives in Lebanon and the rate of displacement there has also increased. In such a situation, Lebanese displacement would also have an impact on other countries of the world. Because of which the whole of Europe including America was busy in implementing the ceasefire.
What will happen in 60 days of ceasefire,
After the ceasefire comes into effect, Hezbollah will withdraw its fighters from the buffer zone between Lebanon and Israel. On the other hand, Israel will also withdraw from the Lebanese border.
Can ceasefire happen in Gaza also?,
Regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, Israel has made it clear that Israel will continue attacking until the hostages are released unconditionally. Many big countries along with many countries of the Middle East have also tried mediation, but both Israel and Hamas have not shown any flexibility.
