Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has made a very sensational allegation on the army chief. Imran has directly blamed Army Chief General Asim Munir for his arrest on 9 May. At the same time, Imran also said that after my arrest, wherever incidents of violence took place in the country, how can I be responsible for that, because I was in custody. Khan expressed these views during an informal interaction with media persons at the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday, Pakistani media reported on Saturday.
The court has also stayed the arrest of Imran in all other cases registered recently.
The High Court on Friday granted protective bail to Khan for two weeks in a corruption case and restrained him from arrest in any case registered anywhere in the country till Monday. Three different benches of the IHC granted relief to the 70-year-old chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who was taken to the court amid tight security. Khan said, “It is not the security agencies behind this, but a man, that is the army chief. There is no democracy in the army. Whatever is happening is tarnishing the image of the army.” Khan said, “And that [सेना प्रमुख] Worried that if I come back to power, I will remove them. So all this is happening directly on his orders.
He claimed that he had learned that 40 people had lost their lives during the two-day protests. What happened after the arrest was beyond his control. “How can I be blamed for the incidents that happened while I was in custody?
