Aayush Sharma Began His Career In Bollywood As Background Dancer In Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani Film

New Delhi: Aayush Sharma will soon be seen in ‘Ruslaan’ alongside Sushri Shreya Mishra. In several recent interactions with the media for the promotions of his film, Aayush Sharma spoke about his struggle, being dependent on the Khan family and journey from a background artist to a lead actor. Amid all this, a part that seems to have caught everyone’s attention is when Aayush recalled dancing in the background of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ song ‘Dilliwaali Girlfriend’.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, when the interviewer asked Aayush Sharma about his first visit to Mehboob studio to shoot a song as background dancer to his journey now as a lead hero for ‘Ruslaan’ and how his life had come full circle, Aayush Sharma said, “Ji (life has come a full circle), I would like to tell you that for the first time I came to Mehboob Studio for ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’. Where people did not say that there would be less work with background dancers, I said that I did not see how the film would be set, how would the shoot be done, no AD was being made, no AD was being made, no casting director was being made. I wanted to reach a film set through a casting director and find out how the film was distributed. (I want to tell you that my first visit to Mehboob studio was for Yeh Jawani Hai Dewani Shoot. At the time, I was told that you will be dancing with background dancers, and I wanted to see what a film set looks like or how The shoot happens. Then, I thought of becoming a casting director and see how a film is made.

,So I remember ‘Yeah YoungThe shoot of ‘I Hai Deewani’ was at Mehbooh studio gate when I asked him where he was and he said he was shooting here, it was a very surreal moment because that day there were around 300-400 background artists out of which he was one of the main ones. Above all, there were costume trials at the studio, fitting fitting, who was there to see…. at that time Manish Malhotra sir came out from there after doing the costume trials, then saw Deepika ji, saw Kalki, finally Ranbir Kapoor came. set pe. (I remember, it was a very beautiful moment, we were some 300-400 backgriund dancers, there was a small room up in the studio where we had our costume trails. I then saw Manish Malhotra come out after the costume trial and then I saw Deepika, Kalki and finally Ranbir Kapoor).

Aayush then added how he tried to hide from the camera when he was being pushed in front. The ‘Antim’ actor also added that he really wanted to see how he looked on the monitor but feared because only HOD’s are generally allowed near the monitor area.

,Then Dilliwaali girlfriend came to us and told us that this has to be done, I was still silent like this that I should not look into the camera, I came to see you… how much time did it take to take such a shot, that day I had a great craving to look into the monitor to see what was being shot because I was in the background, and in front of me Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika ji were eating, to see how I was looking in the main camera, and what I wanted to see, But only HODs can see the monitor.”( It was for the song ‘Dilliwali Girlfriend’. We had been told the steps and we did them. I was trying to hide behind the camera thinking, I am here to learn… But that day, I had a craving to see the monitor I wanted to see how I looked or danced but I feared if someone said that only HOD’s are allowed near the monitor)

Sharma then said that ‘only HODs at monitor’ rule is not followed on his sets. He has imbibed that from his journey. ,I never stop anyone on my set from watching the monitor, because at that time I was told that no one should say that you are no less here, HODs are the ones who watch the monitors. So that was from within me that I showed how, that I did not want to dance, that is the thing that I have imbibed in my career that anyone on my set can see my monitor. On my set I still have my background. Why don’t you talk about dancers, because today I found out that background dancers will someday become superstars. ( So, I make sure I don’t have that on my set. I don’t stop anyone from going near the monitor. I have imbibed that in my career from my journey. I also say hi to my background dancers because they may be artists today but they could be superstars tomorrow).

‘Ruslaan’ will be released on April 26, 2024.
