Farooq Shaikh had talked about the 1986 film ‘Umrao Jaan’ during an interview. While sharing the incident during the shooting, he told that he was playing the role of Nawab in the film with Rekha. The shooting of the film was taking place in an old house in Malihabad near Lucknow. The people of the village suddenly got wind that a romantic scene was going to be shot between Rekha and them.

Farooq Shaikh told that the entire village wanted to see Rekha romancing. The room where the shooting was to take place was so small that apart from us two actors, people associated with the shooting like cameramen and technicians were also able to fit in there with great difficulty. In such a situation, it was becoming difficult to give entry to the villagers in that room.

When the guns came out, tension increased in the atmosphere
Farooq Shaikh says, “Whether the whole village watched any other scene or not, they definitely wanted to enter the room to watch this romantic scene.” Some got a chance and some didn’t. Someone was told to come after 2 minutes. Someone was told to come after 5 minutes. It became so heated that the guns came out. The situation became such that bullets were about to be fired there.

Farooq told that the atmosphere was full of tension and everyone was worried. The scene was shot in such a tense atmosphere.
