Eight People Killed and 17 Wounded in a Knife Attack in China: A major incident took place in a business school in East China on Saturday (16 November 2024). Eight people died in the knife attack in this business school, while 17 others were injured. According to the local police, the attacker is a former student. He has been arrested.
According to Chinese media reports, the incident took place on Saturday evening at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology located in Yixing city of Jiangsu province. The police in Yixing issued a statement giving complete information about this incident.
‘He was upset due to failure, hence he attacked’
Police told the media that the stabbing student is 21 years old and is an alumnus of this institute. He was supposed to graduate this year, but he failed the exam. Police say that he was upset after the failure. On Saturday, he came here to express his anger and started attacking students one after another. The accused has confessed his crime.
Complete preparations in the hospital for the treatment of the injured
Police in Yixing said that emergency services are fully active to treat and care for the injured. Violent knife crime is not uncommon in China, where firearms are tightly controlled, but a single attack on so many people and so many deaths is relatively rare.
Such cases have increased in the last few months
Earlier this week, a 62-year-old man drove his small SUV into a crowd in China’s southern city of Zhuhai, killing 35 people and injuring more than 40. There have been many more such attacks in the last few months. In October, a man killed three people and injured 15 others in a knife attack at a supermarket in Shanghai. A month ago, a Japanese schoolboy was stabbed to death in Shenzhen, the southern city bordering Hong Kong.
