Earth Observation Satellite-6 is the third generation satellite in the satellite series. It is intended to continue the services of the ONSET-2 spacecraft with enhanced payload specifications as well as application areas.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said in a statement on Wednesday that the EOS-06 satellite, which was launched on Saturday with the help of PSLV-C 54, along with eight more nano satellites. The first picture was received at the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) on Tuesday.
The photographs were of Shadnagar covering the Himalayan region, Gujarat Kutch region and the Arabian Sea. ISRO told that the picture was taken with the help of Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) and Sea Surface Temperature Monitor (SSTM) sensors. ISRO further informed that the pictures were released in virtual mode by ISRO Chairman S Somnath.
