Morbi Bridge Collapse: The Supreme Court will hear on Monday (November 21) a petition seeking formation of a judicial commission to investigate the Morbi bridge collapse incident in Gujarat. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Hima Kohli will hear the PIL filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari. It has been said in the petition that this incident shows the negligence and gross failure of the officers.
Advocate Vishal Tiwari had urged for urgent listing of the matter on November 1. On this, the apex court had said that it will hear the matter soon. A total of 134 people, including women and children, were killed when a British-era cable bridge over the Machchu river collapsed in Gujarat’s Morbi city on October 30.

Advocate Vishal Tiwari said in his petition that for the last one decade, many incidents have happened in our country, in which cases of heavy loss of life have come to light due to mismanagement, lapse of duty and negligence of maintenance, which could have been avoided.
