Disha Salian Suicide Case: Union Minister Narayan Rane and his son and BJP MLA Nitesh Rane have been summoned in connection with the death of Disha Salian. Malwani police station has issued notice to Narayan Rane to record his statement on March 4 at 11 am and Nitesh Rane to appear on March 3. Earlier, an FIR was registered against both of them for defaming the relatives of Disha Salian.
What are the allegations against Narayan-Nitesh Rane?
Narayan Rane and his MLA son Nitesh Rane have been accused of defaming the family members of late Disha Salian, the former manager of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, on different media platforms. In this case, the Mumbai Police had registered a case against both of them last month on the complaint of Disha’s mother Vasanti Salian. The FIR has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 211, 500 and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. The police officer said that further investigation is on.
Disha’s mother had knocked on the door of the Women’s Commission
Vasanti Salian had approached the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSWC) and sought action against Narayan Rane, Nitesh Rane and others for defaming the Salian family on social media platforms. MSWC then asked the police to block social media accounts spreading false information about Disha Salian’s death and take action against both Narayan Rane and Nitesh in this regard.
In a series of tweets, MSWC President Rupali Chakankar said that the Malwani Police (in Mumbai) has told the commission that Salian’s postmortem report states that she was not raped and was not pregnant. While addressing a press conference, Narayan Rane made many claims regarding the death of Disha Salian.
