Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections In the fifth phase, 61 seats in 12 districts of the state had an average of 54.98 percent votes till 5 pm on Sunday. Gulshan Yadav, Samajwadi Party candidate from Kunda seat of Pratapgarh, sustained minor injuries in an alleged attack on his convoy. The party has made a written complaint about the incident to the Election Commission. According to the information received from the Election Commission, the voting in the fifth phase started at 7 am on Sunday. The votes were cast till 6 pm.
55.86 percent in Amethi, 54.60 in Bahraich, 54.65 in Barabanki, Chitrakoot 59.64 in Gonda, 54.98 in Kaushambi, 57.01 in Kaushambi, 52.65 in Pratapgarh, 53.19 in Prayagraj, 56.60 in Rae Bareli, 57.24 in Shravasti and 55.38 in Sultanpur cast their votes. State Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said that 693 candidates were in the fray in the fifth phase, out of which 90 are women candidates.
Some people attacked the convoy of Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Kunda assembly constituency Gulshan Yadav at around 11 am in Paharpur Banohi of Kotwali Kunda police station in Pratapgarh district, due to which his vehicle was damaged and he suffered minor injuries. Confirming the incident, Kunda Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajit Kumar said that SP candidate Gulshan Yadav had gone on a tour and as soon as he came out of the Paharpur Banohi polling station, some people attacked him, due to which the vehicle was damaged. .
SP State President Naresh Uttam Patel and National Secretary Rajendra Chaudhary have written a written complaint to the Election Commission about the incident in Kunda. On the other hand, shortly before the start of elections in Gonda, a case was registered against 12 people including Samajwadi Party candidate and former state minister Yogesh Pratap Singh and his two brothers for assaulting and raping a woman from Colonelganj assembly seat. The woman also alleged that she and her family members are supporters of the BJP, due to which this incident took place against her.
It is noteworthy that in the fifth phase, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is the BJP candidate from Sirathu assembly constituency in his home district Kaushambi, against whom Samajwadi Party has fielded Apna Dal (Communist) leader Pallavi Patel. In this phase, polling was held in religiously important areas from Ayodhya to Prayagraj and Chitrakoot.
