Munich: US Vice President Kamala Harris warned Russia on Saturday that it would have to pay an “unprecedented” economic price if it invades Ukraine. Harris said that such an attack would bring European countries closer to America.
The US Vice President made this statement at the annual Munich Security Conference held in Germany. A day earlier, President Joe Biden said he was “convinced” that Russian President Vladimir Putin had decided to strike Ukraine.
‘US will impose unprecedented economic sanctions’
“I am saying very clearly that if Russia attacks Ukraine, the United States, along with its allies and partners, will impose unprecedented economic sanctions,” Harris said. The purpose of the Vice President is to tell European countries that there is “power through unity” in Western countries.
‘Biden administration tried to negotiate’
The Vice President, through his address, gave a message that an attack on Ukraine could lead to a very strong reaction from NATO to Russia. Harris said the Biden administration had tried to negotiate with Moscow to find a diplomatic solution with its allies, but there was no good response from the Kremlin.
The Vice President said, “Russia is constantly saying that it is ready for talks, while at the same time it is also closing the way for a diplomatic solution. There is a difference between his words and deeds.
