Pakistan Attack On Afghanistan: On Wednesday (December 25, 2024), 46 people, mainly women and children, were killed in Pakistan air strikes in Afghanistan’s eastern Paktika province. This has been confirmed by a Taliban spokesperson.
According to news agency AFP, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, “Last night (Tuesday), Pakistan bombed four places in Barmal district of Paktika province. The total number of dead is 46, most of which are children and women.” He said six others were injured, mostly children.
Taliban’s Defense Ministry condemned the attack
The Taliban’s Defense Ministry condemned the attacks, calling them “barbaric” and “blatant aggression.” “The Islamic Emirate will not leave this cowardly act unanswered, but considers the defense of its territory and sovereignty as its inalienable right,” it said in a statement. Local residents have reported heavy damage. Malel, a resident of Barmal, said, “Two or three houses were damaged in the bombing. In one house 18 people were killed, the entire family died.” He said three people were killed in another house, while several injured were taken to hospital.
Pakistan made this allegation on Afghanistan
Similar Pakistani air strikes in March reportedly killed eight civilians, leading to border clashes. Tensions have risen since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021, with Pakistan accusing Kabul of harboring terrorists responsible for attacks on Pakistani soil. Kabul has denied the allegations.
This latest attack follows a recent attack by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) near the Afghan border, in which Islamabad Intelligence said 16 soldiers were killed. On the same day of the air strikes, high-ranking Taliban officials were meeting with Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan in Kabul. Pakistani officials have not yet commented on this incident.
