Why is Raj Kapoor called the ‘Showman’ of Indian cinema? PM Modi also praised

Raj Kapoor may not be among us today, but his amazing films and acting still reside in the hearts of the audience. His wonderful journey from Awara to Shri 420 and then from there to Showman was very powerful.

Raj Kapoor was not only an actor but also a director and producer. He is also called the showman of Indian cinema because whenever he joined a film, he immersed himself in it to make it perfect. And used to achieve the best.

Different forms were seen in Raj Kapoor’s acting. Sometimes he made the audience cry by playing Mera Naam Joker and sometimes he made the audience laugh by doing comedy scenes in the film Jaan Pehchaan. There was applause in the theaters after watching his film Boot Polish.

He was definitely liked in Awara. He also got a different identity in his film Shri 420, which came four years later. In this 1955 film, he was seen traveling from 420 to Shri 420, which was commendable.

The song Mera Juta Hai Japanese was filmed on him and in the voice of Mukesh, it became a superhit not only in India but also in countries like Russia.

With films like Bobby, Chhaliya, Sangam, Anari, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Raj Kapoor showed how the story of films can be presented with a new mood.

Paying tribute to his 100th birth anniversary, PM Modi has also said that he has taken Indian cinema to the global stage. Praising Raj Kapoor, the PM also said that he was not only a filmmaker but also a cultural ambassador.
