On 14 September 2020, a girl in Hathras was raped by some people of her village, who died during treatment. In this case an accused has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit is an attempt to highlight the government’s shortcomings on this issue and express solidarity with the victim’s family.
