DGP Conference Odisha: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (November 29) inaugurated the 59th DGSP/IGSP Conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The current and emerging security challenges of the country are being discussed in this three-day conference. The conference was attended by police leadership, officers of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the second and third days of the conference.
In his address, Home Minister Amit Shah stressed the need to focus on emerging security challenges on the eastern borders, urban policing and immigration trends. At the same time, called for taking initiative towards decisive action under the zero tolerance policy. He expressed satisfaction over the improvement in the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, North-East, and Left Wing Extremism affected areas.
Role of security institutions in national development
The Home Minister described the new criminal laws as transforming India’s justice system from punishment-centric to justice-centric. He stressed the role of security institutions in the goal of making India a developed nation by the year 2047 and becoming the third largest economy by 2027.

Information Bureau officials received awards
Home Minister Amit Shah Awarded Police Medals for Meritorious Service to Information Bureau officers. During the conference, he released the book ‘Ranking of Police Stations 2024’ and presented trophies to the three best police stations of the country.
