DUSU Election Result 2024: The results of Delhi University’s student union elections came on Monday. Two months after the elections, counting of votes took place under tight security. NSUI captured the post of President and Joint Secretary. NSUI’s Raunak Khatri has won the post of President, while Lokesh Chaudhary has won the post of Joint Secretary. ABVP was successful in winning the posts of Vice President and Secretary.
Out of the total 50,689 votes received for the post of President, Raunak Khatri got 20,207, Rishabh Chaudhary 18,868, Savi Gupta 2,695, Aniket Mandke 2,028, Badi-u-Zaman 844, Pinky 854, Sheetal 407 and Shivam Maurya 880. Votes received. Whereas, 3,906 students chose NOTA. 50,918 votes were received for the post of Vice President. In this, Bhanu Pratap Singh got 24,166 votes, Yash Nandal got 15,404 votes, Ayush Mandal got 3,650 votes, Banashree Das got 2,339 votes, Robin Singh got a total of 948 votes. While 4,411 votes were from NOTA.
A total of 50,874 votes were received for the post of Secretary, out of which Mitravinda Karnawal got 16,703, Namrata Jeff got 15,236, Sneha Aggarwal got 8,806 and Adityan MA got 3,358. 6,771 students chose NOTA. Whereas 50,977 votes were cast for the post of Joint Secretary. Lokesh Chaudhary got 21,975 votes, Aman Kapasia got 15,249 votes, Anamika got 5,676 votes, Anjana Sukumaran got 2,417 votes and NOTA got 5,660 votes.
NSUI wins in student union elections
Victory in the student union elections is a big achievement for NSUI. ABVP had control over the DUSU panel since 2017. NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary has said that the victory is of the fight fought for the protection of the Constitution, safety of women, violence-free campus and opening of love shop in DU. I am proud that we have opened ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ in Delhi University. Varun further said that NSUI raised the issues of students in the elections. NSUI’s victory is the result of students’ unity and struggle.
Chief Election Officer Prof. Satyapal Singh said that this time there were 8 candidates in the fray for the post of President, 5 for the post of Vice President, 4 for Secretary and 4 for Joint Secretary. NSUI and ABVP remained dominant but surprisingly, in all four posts, three candidates of the left panel got less votes than NOTA.
Victory was celebrated with simplicity
It is noteworthy that due to dirt on the walls, the High Court had banned the counting to be held on September 29. Finally, after a long wait, the results were announced on Monday. The results of DUSU elections were celebrated with simplicity and peace. Police force and Rapid Action Force were on standby during the counting of votes. On the instructions of DU administration, the winning candidates were welcomed without DJ and uproar.
