Ujjain Diwali Tradition: Different traditions are followed on Diwali across the country. A similar tradition has been going on for years in Bhidavad village of Badnagar tehsil of Ujjain district. Seeing which people tremble. Actually, here people are made to lie on the ground. After this, cows are made to run over them.
According to tradition, people believe that by doing this their wishes are fulfilled. Such a tradition is followed on Govardhan Puja on the second day of Diwali.
People fast for 5 days
Behind such tradition, people also believe that 33 crore Gods and Goddesses reside in the cow, hence by coming under their feet one also gets the blessings of the Gods. In the name of faith, people’s lives are played with here. People participating in this event also have to fast for five days as per tradition.

Parikrama is taken out in the village with drums and musical instruments.
Although no one remembers when this tradition started, whether it is the elders or the youth of the village, they have grown up watching it. People from nearby villages also come to this village to make their wishes. They leave their homes 5 days before Diwali and then go to the temple of Mata Bhavani and start living there. A fair is held the next day of Diwali.
On the second day of Diwali, worship is done in the morning on Padwa. Along with this, people go around the village accompanied by drums. Those whose wishes are fulfilled lie down in front of the cows, then the cows trample them and pass by. Those making wishes have full confidence that their wishes will be fulfilled by following this tradition that has been going on since the time of their ancestors.
