Sources told PTI, ‘Air India has canceled 60 flights to San Francisco, Washington, Chicago, Newark and New York between November 15 and December 31 due to lack of capacity to operate some flights to these destinations. It does not have sufficient number of large size aircraft.’
Sources said that under this, Air India has operated 14 flights on the Delhi-Chicago route, 28 flights on the Delhi-Washington route, 12 flights on the Delhi-SFO route, four flights on the Mumbai-New York route and two flights on the Delhi-Newark route. Has been cancelled.
He said, ‘Air India is facing delay in getting the aircraft from the MRO operator for maintenance. Additionally, some of its larger aircraft are grounded due to technical problems. Due to this, there is a shortage of planes and flights are being cancelled.’
Air India spokesperson said, ‘‘Air India regrets the temporary reduction in operational fleet due to delayed withdrawal of some aircraft due to heavy maintenance and supply chain disruptions.’’
