The Foreign Secretary said that we are hopeful that the situation on LAC will improve. We do not have confidence building solutions; it constantly evolves over time. This is a topic which will be discussed in both the countries. As for the rest, only the military leadership deployed on the border will be able to tell the correct thing about the military situation because it is related to operational matters.

During the bilateral meeting, PM Modi said, “I was happy to meet you and as you said, this is a formal meeting between us after five years. I believe that the importance of India-China relations is not only for the citizens of our two countries, but it is also very important for peace, stability and progress for the entire world.
He further said, “Your Excellency, we welcome the consensus reached on the issues arising on the border in the last 4 years. Our priority should be to maintain peace and stability on our border. Mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity should be the basis of our bilateral relations. Today we have got the opportunity to talk on all these issues and I am confident that we will have these conversations with an open mind and our conversations will be constructive in future.”
