This is how it was formed
It was originally formed in the year 1815 as part of the British Indian Army. but which later adopted the title of 1st King George V’s Own Gurkha Rifles (Maloon Regiment). After India’s independence in 1947, it was transferred to the Indian Army. Army and when India became a republic in 1950, it was named the Gorkha Rifles (Maloon Regiment).
It is called enemies period
At present, this is such a battalion of Indian soldiers that the enemies of the country get so scared that they never want to come in front of this regiment. Gorkha battalion is said to be the most dangerous regiment of the country, because they do not show mercy to any enemy of the country and kill them mercilessly and this is the reason why the enemies do not want to face them. These are always called enemy periods.
Known for unmatched bravery
The Gorkha regiment displayed its bravery from the very beginning and led the British to victory in an important battle. In this, the Gorkhas were also involved in the Sikh War, Anglo-Sikh War and Afghan Wars along with the suppression of the Indian War of Independence of 1857. Some part of this regiment later also joined the British Army. Even now the Gorkha Regiment is an important part of the British Army.
Gorkha regiment divided after independence
In 1947, when India was becoming independent, a tripartite agreement was signed between India, Nepal and Britain, under which six Gorkha regiments were transferred to the Indian Army. After this, a seventh regiment was later formed, then these seven Gorkha regiments have planted their flag in the Indian Army.
Gorkha regiment is in many parts of the world
Gorkha Regiment has centers in many cities in India. In this, the training centers of Varanasi, Lucknow, Subatu in Himachal Pradesh, Shillong are famous. The Gorkha Regiment is generally considered to be an expert in fighting in mountainous areas. The identity of Gorkha is Khukri, which is a kind of sharp dagger. During war, Gorkhas use this Khukri to cut off the head of the enemy. Whenever Gorkha soldiers move forward to attack the enemy, the slogan on their lips is – Jai Mahakali, Ayo Gorkhali. It is said that Gorkhas do not move forward leaving their soldiers trapped in trouble.
