Let’s know about it-
Relation of Anant Chaturdashi with Mahabharata period (Anant Chaturdashi Mahabhart Katha in Hindi)
Anant Chaturdashi has a special connection with the Mahabharata, because its beginning is believed to be from the Mahabharata period. According to the story, when the Pandavas lost to the Kauravas in gambling, they had to suffer a lot by giving up their kingdom. One day Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna for a solution to get rid of this suffering and get back his kingdom.
Shri Krishna said, O Yudhishthira! All of you should keep a fast and worship Lord Anant according to the rules. This will remove all your troubles and you will regain your lost kingdom. Then Yudhishthira asked Krishna, who is Lord Anant?
Shri Krishna said – Anant is the form of Lord Shri Vishnu. During the Chaturmas (Chaturmas 2024), Lord Vishnu sleeps in Anant Shayyan on the bed of Sheshnag. On the advice of Shri Krishna, Yudhishthira along with his family observed the fast of Anant Chaturdashi and worshiped Anant Dev. Due to the effect of the fast, he not only regained his lost kingdom but the Pandavas also won the Mahabharata War.
Why do we tie a 14 knotted thread on Anant Chaturdashi?
There is importance of tying a thread with 14 knots in the worship of Anant Chaturdashi. It is made of silk or cotton, which is tied on the arm. This thread with 14 knots is considered to be a symbol of 14 forms of Vishnu Ji (Anant, Rishikesh, Padmanabh, Madhav, Vaikunth, Shridhar, Trivikram, Madhusudan, Vaman, Keshav, Narayan, Damodar and Govind). After the creation of 14 worlds, Lord Vishnu appeared in these 14 forms for its maintenance and protection.
At the same time, it is believed in the scriptures that the 14 knots of Anant Raksha Sutra represent these 14 worlds (Bhurlok, Bhuvarlok, Swarlok, Maharlok, Janlok, Tapolok, Brahmalok, Atal, Vital, Satal, Rasatal, Talatal, Mahatal and Patal Lok).
