Covid 19 Virus: The deadly Covid virus, which shook the world completely three years ago, may have subsided now but it is still present. Although now the cases of Covid virus infection have reduced significantly, health experts say that it has not been completely eradicated. Let us tell you that three years ago, when Corona infection was at its peak, in the month of May 2021, there were around 1.2 lakh deaths in India alone. This was the period when more than three lakh cases of infection were being reported every day. Although now that bad phase has passed, still the infection has not been completely eradicated.
Figures released by the Indian Health Ministry say that the Corona epidemic has passed and now the active cases have come down to less than a thousand. After this, if we talk about Omicron, its wave was seen in the month of February 2022 but this variant was not as deadly as Corona, hence the number of deaths did not increase.
Is the Corona epidemic really over?
According to WHO, the Corona epidemic will end in 2023. WHO had announced on May 5, 2023 that there is no longer a health emergency due to Corona. In such a situation, I got this message that now corona virus No longer fatal. The reduction in the number of deaths and the number of corona patients in hospitals was proof that the corona epidemic had formally ended. After this, all restrictions related to Covid were abolished in India also. After this, following these rules, the requirement of wearing masks in public places was abolished in the states also.
If seen, SARS-CoV-2, due to which Corona infection spread, is still present, and due to this, very few cases of infection are being reported. On the other hand, the Corona family is currently causing the most and deadly infections. The main variant is JN.1, which is related to the Omicron species. JN.1 spreads faster than the Omicron variant, but it does not make the person very ill and it can also be treated quickly.
Why are more people not getting infected?
There are many reasons behind the decrease in the number of people infected with Corona. The first thing is that there has been a decline in testing for corona infection. Now that a large population has taken the vaccine to protect against corona, people have tightened their grip on the necessity of getting tested for corona. Therefore, it is natural for the infection figures to decrease after less testing. Due to the vaccine, there has been a change in the immunity of the people and hence the number of infected people has decreased.
The special thing is that after such a big campaign of vaccine, people have also shown awareness towards Corona and the habit of maintaining social distance has also helped a lot in fighting Corona. Wearing masks in public places, washing hands with soap, keeping immunity strong and using sanitizers properly have also reduced the number of people infected with corona.
