Three consecutive earthquake tremors in Doda and Katra areas of Jammu and Kashmir, panic among people

Earthquake News: The earth shook several times on the morning of Wednesday, June 14, just hours after a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to which the local people are in panic. According to information, earthquake tremors were felt twice in the early hours of Wednesday in Katra and Doda areas of Jammu and Kashmir. People are now worried due to the tremors of the earth three times in 24 hours. In the earlier earthquake, some people were injured and some buildings were also damaged.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the intensity of the earthquake that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday was 4.3 on the Richter scale, the first tremor was felt at 2.20 am on 14 June. It was told that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a distance of 10 km from Katra, whose depth was 81 km.

Earlier on Tuesday, June 13, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, due to which some buildings were damaged and at least five people were injured. Earthquake tremors were felt in many parts of North India including Delhi and also in the neighboring country of Pakistan. An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude occurred at 1.33 pm, whose epicenter was at a depth of six kilometers.

After the earthquake, officials said that hundreds of buildings had developed cracks due to the tremors in Doda, Bhaderwah and Gandoh. An official said that the ‘false ceiling’ of a ward of a sub-division hospital in Bhaderwah collapsed, injuring a patient and a female employee. An official said that some debris fell on the patients admitted in the ward of the hospital. After which the patients have been taken to safe places and their treatment is going on in the emergency of the hospital.

Doda’s Deputy Commissioner Special Paul Mahajan said that two children in a school received minor injuries. Panicked school students gathered in the fields of Bhaderwah Valley and teachers were seen comforting and explaining to the crying students. However, no news of loss of life and property has come to the fore during this period.
